BAABDA DECLARATION

Broker of the 2012 agreement to keep Lebanon neutral in the Syrian war, which Hezbollah famously violated days later.
Called for a defense strategy that would integrate Hezbollah's arms into the state, making him a target of the militia.

POLITICAL ISOLATION

Left office without a successor, beginning the cycle of presidential vacuums.
His influence waned as the political polarization between March 8 and March 14 destroyed the center.
